Defined Benefits – New Section MNOPF
The day-to-day running of the administration of the New Section benefits is carried out by Aptia UK Limited (“Aptia”) to whom Mercer (formerly JLT Employee Benefits who were acquired by Marsh & McLennan Companies on 1 April 2019). transferred its UK pension administration business on 1 January 2024. Aptia’s pension scheme administration duties include calculating benefits, paying pensions and other benefits, keeping the MNOPF’s member and financial records and supplying information.
Defined Benefits – Old Section MNOPF
The benefits from the Old Section of the MNOPF are provided by Rothesay Life or Legal & General following the buy-out of this part of the MNOPF.

Defined Contribution – Ensign Retirement Plan (for the MNOPF)
The Ensign Retirement Plan (for the MNOPF) was closed on 31 March 2018 and all member benefits transferred to the Ensign Retirement Plan. Following a re-fresh of the brand, the Ensign Retirement Plan was known as Ensign. All members and their benefits in Ensign were transferred to Smart Pension(www.smartpension.co.uk/) on 7 June 2023 and Ensign was subsequently wound up on 26 September 2023.
